Your Questions, Answered:
How Fertility Acupuncture Supports Conception
-
Frequency depends on your timeline and goals. Most patients come weekly, while some come less frequently. Those preparing for IVF or dealing with PMOS (PCOS) and irregular cycles may benefit from twice-weekly sessions during key phases of treatment.
-
Ideally, acupuncture is started 3 months before an IVF or IUI cycle to allow time to improve egg quality, regulate hormones, and support the uterine lining. However, even beginning treatments in the weeks leading up to egg retrieval or embryo transfer can improve outcomes by reducing stress, improving circulation, and preparing the body for implantation.
-
As with many things, there is contradictory research out there. However, the research that looks at acupuncture ‘dosage’ shows that outcomes are better when several treatments are provided before embryo transfer, not just day of. Acupuncture can increase pregnancy rates in IVF cycles when dosed appropriately, and with a ‘whole systems’ approach (using traditional diagnosis and treatment strategies based on the individual rather than a universal acu-point prescription). Acupuncture supports blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, reduces stress and anxiety, and helps regulate the endocrine system — all of which can enhance IVF success.
-
Yes. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine can help address underlying causes of recurrent miscarriage, such as hormonal imbalances, poor uterine blood flow, or autoimmune factors. Treatment is always tailored to your unique history and needs.
-
Absolutely. Male factor accounts for nearly half of all fertility challenges. Acupuncture can improve sperm count, motility, morphology, and DNA integrity, while reducing stress and supporting overall reproductive health.
-
While many acupuncturists may treat fertility, ABORM-certified practitioners have advanced training in reproductive medicine, both Eastern and Western. This ensures your care is fully integrative, research-informed, and aligned with your medical treatments.
-
Larisa has extensive advanced training in both Eastern and Western reproductive medicine and has been board-certified in fertility since 2009. She blends the best of traditional medicine with up-to-date research.

Patient Stories
Larisa was a godsend for me and my family. I reached out to her after my doctor's office told me my chances of getting pregnant naturally were basically zero and my only option was to get on a waitlist for a fertility clinic.
From our first conversation, I felt heard and supported, no matter my worry or question. She explained the nuances of fertility challenges and worked with me via acupuncture and Chinese herbs; she also took a thorough approach to my overall health, focusing on nutrition, exercise, stress, etc.
I got pregnant after about six months and I continued my care with her up until about one month postpartum (only because she relocated). Her care at the end of my pregnancy was especially helpful, providing resources for chiropractic support and preparing for labor, even how to help my body heal postpartum. Even beyond my pregnancy, I felt like I could go to her with any issue I was having (or my husband/kids) and she was right there, ready with helpful information on which essential oil to use or herbs to take. She is the best!

Larisa is amazing. I first started seeing her for fertility support after having surgery for endometriosis. She not only made me feel supported and educated in what was going on with my body, she also made me feel sane, which for anyone dealing with complications in the medical system, you'll know how much that matters! Larisa put me on supplements and did acupuncture twice a week. I started feeling better, got sick less, and got pregnant after about 6 months of going to her. I have friends who I've referred for non-fertility issues and they've had similar experiences. I have since moved but still rely on her for telehealth and will visit whenever I can! I 100% recommend seeing her for whatever issue or non-issue you're experiencing.
